Who/What is the Garrett Hill Coalition (GHC)?

The Garrett Hill Coalition (GHC) was formed on October 17, 2007 to change Radnor Township's planning process in the development of the Garrett Hill Master Plan and Overlay District so the people of Garrett Hill can direct and create the future of their community.  The GHC wants to ensure that the Garrett Hill community will be protected from adverse zoning changes.  Further, the GHC wants to seize the opportunity to preserve and enhance Garrett Hill.  To this end, the GHC has elected officers, set committees and put forth nine (9) Steering Committee Members who will serve on the Garrett Hill Steering Committee and who will act as representatives for the residents and stakeholders during the development of the Garrett Hill Master Plan and Overlay District pursuant to the Radnor Comprehensive Land Use Plan of 2003.

THE RADNOR TOWNSHIP BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS WILL CONTINUE CONSIDERATION OF THE GHZD ZONING AND LAND DEVELOPMENT DOCUMENTS ON OCTOBER 27, 2008. GHSC

Meetings will continue...

On September 22, 2008, the Board of Commissioners voted to table the adoption of the Garrett Hill Zoning District documents (Zoning and SALDO) until October 27, 2008. 

Some members of the GH business community submitted a petition asking the BOC to table the adoption due to confusion and lack of clarity. The Board felt it was in the best interests of our community to honor the business community's request. 

Hank Mahoney, President of the Board of Commissioners, directed Garrett Hill community members to take this 30-day period to access the Steering Committee, the Planner and other Township resources:    

  1. to educate themselves
  2. to dispel any confusion
  3. to clarify their understanding of these zoning documents

With the help of Marian Hull, the Planner, a four-step meeting schedule will be followed to give ample opportunity for all Garrett Hill community members to meet with the Garrett Hill Steering Committee, Ms. Hull, and relevant Township Staff.  The Committee will strive to help clarify by providing answers to specific questions throughout this meeting process.

The Garrett Hill Steering Committee meeting schedule is as follows:

Tuesday, September 30 - 7:00 PM at the Radnor Township Building
Agenda:    Questions and concerns about the new ordinances 

Tuesday, October 7 - 7:00 PM at the Radnor Township Building.
Agenda:    Learn about and compare current zoning with proposed zoning; funding site amenities

Thursday, October 16 - 7:00 PM at Radnor Methodist Church
Agenda:   Steering Committee discussion about questions and concerns raised at the previous meetings


Tuesday, October 21 - 7:00 PM at the Radnor Township Building
Agenda:     Steering Committee formalizes recommendations  to the Board of Commissioners

Monday, October 27 – 7:00 PM at the Township Building
Agenda:    Board of Commissioners vote on adoption of the Garrett Hill Zoning District documents
